Furs

I have talked about it before, but fur as a trend is something definitely worth noting. ML Furs is a fun retailer and they offer the cutest fur vests. Furs have come along way since its early beginnings. Fur is now much more fashionable and trendy without being over the top. That is why I like fur vests the most out of any of the fur fashions. Something important to think about when purchasing fur is the types of animals they come from. Raccoons and foxes have very pretty fur. They also are extremely popular and right on trend this season. My absolute favorite though is the feathered fox. This seems to be the most popular this season and will likely be popular for many seasons to come.

The thing about fur vests is that they are investment pieces. They may be costly, but they will last forever and you will never have to replace them. They also do an excellent job of keeping you warm in the winters. That is definitely something important for my readers out there living in those freezing cold climates!

You should definitely look into getting a fur vest to round out your staple pieces this season!

To Dallas I Go

Content by Mitch Osborne

I’ve waited for 7 years to go back to school to get my masters. I told myself that if I worked for that amount of time, that I would have enough money to take a year or two off to get my MBA. I also told myself that if I could get through those years of working that I would allow myself to go anywhere in the world, and that I would just get my degree online. This got me through many days of wanting to just walk out of my office and never come back. Well, it’s been 7 years now and I almost didn’t do it. The risk seems silly now that I actually have to pull the trigger. However, I found a great program online, and my business seems to be at a place where I can step away from it for a year and then come back to it with a fresh pair of eyes. So here I go to Dallas, TX where the hair is big and the egos bigger. I am going to take my laptop and sign up for clear wireless internet Dallas, and I should be set! Here’s hoping that this is a good idea!

Merry Sequins

{wearing: baby phat sequin tank, dereon saint diva cardi shawl, black seven7 flare jeans, betsey johnson cheetah bows tote, steve madden khleyo wedge sandal all c/o dr jays}

Putting together a fun and festive holiday outfit is tough. I am in love with this sequin tank by baby phat. It hangs in such a lovely way- the silhouette is gorgeous. Plus, who could resist purple sequins? Exactly. I think this dereon cardi shawl works great with the top too. The shawl has so much shape to it that it really compliments the fuller silhouette of the sequin tank. The grey stripes have a bit of sparkle to them adding to the sparkle factor. I chose the black seven7 jeans because the top part of my outfit is so sparkly that I just wanted to tone things down. Black jeans are a staple in any girls wardrobe because they can make your outfit cleaner and dressier.

I think this bag adds a fun touch to the outfit. The red bows adds one of the Christmas colors to the outfit (and has plenty of room to carry presents!). I love Betsey Johnson bags because they are made so well but are still fairly inexpensive. The Steve Madden wedges add a bit of edge to the outfit. Wedges will give you more height but are much more bearable to stand in for a long period of time. I’m sure these pieces will be in my wardrobe for a long time!

I’ve been getting over a nasty flu, but I’m sure I’ll be over it by Christmas. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Tanda

Acne is something that affects all of us at some point in our lives. The trouble is that everyone’s skin is different and one type of acne removal treatment may work for everyone. I think the most important thing we can do for our skin is to wash it in the morning when we get up and at night before we go to bed. In the morning we are starting with a clean slate and at night we are washing off all of the grime we get in the day. Think about your car driving on the highway. It gets dirty, right? Well the same thing goes for our face being outside. There’s a lot of gunk in the air! Plus, we sweat throughout the day.

I don’t care what type of skin you have- you always need to put moisturizer on after you wash your face and before you put on make up. If you don’t then you are drying out your skin and leaving the top layer of skin to act as a barrier for the dirt. Moisturizer helps keep that top layer supple so the dirt can get out and not cause blemishes. If you are doing those two things and find you are still having break outs then you need to actually start acne treatments. Stress and lack of sleep can do so much damage and help acne get the best of us. I recommend trying the Tanda Zap. It is a great spot removal tool. I hope this helped!

Thanksgiving Weardrobe

{wearing: sean john chiffon sweatshirt, chichi panache heart felt necklace, simone large tote, seven7 coated straight leg jeans, and fashion lab over the knee heeled boots all c/o of dr. jays}

Every year I am faced with the same conundrum: what do I wear to Thanksgiving dinner?! You want to be able to still move after stuffing your face full of food without giving up and just throwing a pair of sweatpants on. I really love this outfit. It is comfortable yet chic.

I love how the top is sheer. It adds a fun twist to the original festive sweater. It’s hard to play favorites but these jeans come pretty close. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the jeans are coated giving them a leathery look. I would definitely recommend ordering these pants a size up because of this fact. These jeans paired with the over the knee boots gives this outfit a bit of edge. I’m excited to try these boots with a full skirt or dress.

The necklace was a little shorter than I expected it to be, but I actually really like the length. This necklace will also look really great with a cable knit sweater. Besides, who can resist a chunky charm necklace?! I’ve had my eye on this tote for a while. It has studded rhinestones and a chain strap which means this bag was basically designed for me. I’m excited to add it to my chain strap purse collection (which is much larger than you’d think).

On a more serious note- I have had an amazing year which I am extremely thankful for. I hope everyone has a fun Thanksgiving and I am very thankful for all of you! xo emily

Chains & Links

 {linear chain link earrings c/o dressbarn}

I am loving my new earrings from Dressbarn. They are chain link and are going to be perfect for all of the holiday parties coming up! The great thing about these earrings is that you can wear them with anything. They look great with just a sweater or with something nicer like a fun party dress.

Lately I have been wearing my hair up a lot and wearing fun earrings really adds to the look. I am really excited to wear these earrings with my hair down. I think they will have a fun look as they blend in with my hair. When it comes to jewelry I’m mostly a minimalist. These earrings are great for that because other jewelry is not necessary. I also love that they aren’t too heavy (even though they look expensive enough to be). I’d definitely recommend them to anyone!

Roots

We were recently in South Carolina visiting family and in honor of my husband’s first trip we went to a civil war re-enactment. The cannons were very loud and there was even a time period fashion show. Actually the fashion show was pretty entertaining. They discussed each article of clothing, how it was washed, and what colors and patterns made it popular during that time. We ate the usual southern specialties which includes cornbread and beans, boiled peanuts, and kettle corn. Oh! And we got homemade root beer and cream soda, yummy!

Spending Habits

Thanks to Wm Rowe

I am what some people might call “irresponsible with money.” I prefer to call it “having good taste,” but call it what you’d like. My husband prefers to call it “wasting all of our money.” Either way, I like to shop. Recently, my husband and I have agreed that perhaps a budget is a good idea, particularly if we want our future children to go to college, etc. We’ve pared down in most areas and are concentrating on building up our nest egg. In theory, I am a full proponent of this idea. In practice…I hate it. I cannot go to the mall anymore because I am realistic that my willpower is sorely lacking when it comes to shopping. I no longer get my coffee from an overpriced retail conglomerate every morning, I no longer buy only designer jeans, and I’ve started clipping coupons. It’s only been a few weeks but I can already start to see a marked improvement in my checking account, so it seems to be working. However, the one area I’ve refused to cut out of the budget? My securitychoice.com. It’s a marginal fee, and the feeling of safety it affords me is priceless. I’ll stop drinking my four dollar daily lattes, but I’m not budging on my peace of mind.
