I got these Calvin Klein jeans in great condition from my local thrift store for $4. When picking out a pair of jeans, make sure you try them on! There’s no point buying a pair that doesn’t fit. I would suggest going up at least a pant size (especially if the fabric is stretchy) because cuff shorts look better if they’re a little loose. Remember that the jeans are going to stretch out eventually though, so don’t go too big, just loose.

These jeans were boot cut. Like I said, this pair was in really great condition so it was kind of hard chopping them up, but luckily they were a little short so my choice was made for me. What you want to do is put the jeans on and make a line with a pen or chalk just above your knee cap. This will ensure that you don’t cut off too much.

I found it was easiest to cut the jeans with the back pockets folded with front pockets out since these jeans have a button back pocket. You can cut both legs together and accuracy doesn’t need to be perfect since this isn’t the final cut. (Side note: I used a yellow clothes line clip to hold the pants together, but it’s not necessary).

Next you want to put the jeans back on and try to cuff the jeans. You’re probably going to have trouble since woman’s jeans are designed to be pretty form fitting. I wanted mine relatively short so I made another mark about 2 inches up and then took them off and cut them. This time you cut them one leg at a time. Once you cut the first leg you can use it as a guide for the second leg to keep them relatively even (it doesn’t matter too much since you’re going to be cuffing them anyway). I like mine rolled up twice and relatively skinny, but it’s a personal preference. Once you figure out how you like it you can either sew up the sides with a sewing maching or by hand or you can just leave it raw. I want to stretch mine out a little more before I decide on how my cuffs are going to be permanently, so I decided to sew them up later. Hint: a good way to stretch out pants is to put them on and tug at them.

Here’s the final product! It took me all of 10 minutes, so don’t be afraid. Go make you own pair! Let me know how they turn out!

I went on a shopping spree at my local thrift store! Here’s what I got.

I don’t care what anyone says, I think the girl’s got style. I told you guys heart shaped sunglasses were gonna be big this summer! I love my pair! I really love all of the browns she pulled in for this look with the bag, belt, and boots. I wish it was cool enough to get away with jeans and boots here. What do you guys think? Do you like her outfit as much as I do?

My new shoes finally came! I have been searching for a pair of strappy tie booties for SO long.

What I love even more about them? They’re blue, my favorite color!

They’re the softest leather ever. They even have cushioning so they won’t hurt my feet!

I am so in love with my new Nine West Jemmia sandals/booties. I’m very picky when it comes to shoes and this fit the bill all the way. It’s a funny story actually, I almost ordered them online from Macy’s last Friday, but decided to wait and then Saturday ended up being their one day sale! They were marked down another $20! Sweet, right? I had a $50 Macy’s gift card, too, so all I had to pay was a little of the shipping costs! Can’t complain ’bout that! These shoes are so soft. What I really love about them is the dark wood platform and heel. It compliments the blue really well. And another great thing is the fact that they have an exposed zipper on the back! Cute and easy to slip on! Seriously, I am in love with these shoes. I’m sure you will be seeing a lot of them on my blog. Actually, I got another pair of shoes today (thanks Dad!), and I’m dying to wear them tomorrow when I go thrifting! You’ll see them soon enough! Have an amazing weekend! xoxo emily

Caryssag Glitter Multi – $139.95

I can’t wait for these shoes to go on sale! Steve Madden is one of my favorite shoe designers. His shoes are stylish and reasonably priced (or will be once they go on sale like with these shoes). Plus, Steve Madden shoes fit me really well. These shoes would dress up any LBD super easy. I don’t really wear too much jewelry so I like to sparkle in other ways, like with shoes or sequins on my actual clothes. What do you think? Too much glitter or just enough?

I really love this romper. It’s a gorgeous color and was styled perfectly with the pearls and peep toe booties. One thing I don’t particularly love is the neckline. It’s very lack luster and unflattering. Maybe some ruffles would have taken it up a notch.

You can’t tell very well in this picture, but that heart actually lit up! This dress is amazing from the collar all the way to the ruffled skirt. Pure genius.

This dress is very “in” right now. Although, I think you can get away with a floral dress any summer.

I loved this dress! First of all, it’s stripes AND ruffles! I love the cool sequin cut out sides, too. It totally takes this dress to a higher level.

P.S. all of the models in this show were so amazing. They had their walks DOWN.

The top of this is way cool. I love the exposed sequin breast. I think if you’re going to make something one shouldered, this is the way to do it.

Do you guys remember this model from the Avant Garde show I went to? Her name is Shai White and she rocks. So does this swimsuit.

I seriously want this. Like bad. That blazer has such a cool silhouette and it rocks with that dress.

I really like this swimsuit because it’s something you could actually see someone wearing to the beach or whatever. It’s fashionable without going over the top or losing wear-ability.

I really like the cut outs on the sides of this dress. It adds a really cool touch.

This shirt is awesome. Why? Because it has a picture of the state of California on the front! I’m definitely going to look into buying this!

What’s even better? The back says, “The State of North California”!!!!!

I am totally loving the sequin skirt with a t-shirt. It totally works!

This plastic coat looked so awesome in person. I would legit wear it. The swimsuit is awesome, too, but you better wear sunscreen unless you want a funky tan line.

The show was really fun! It was held at the Horizon Lounge, which was perfect because the club is “U” shaped so the models started at one and finished at another so there was lots of room for everyone to see. One thing I really like is that the venue is right by Little Italy and China Town so we got to squeeze in some fun shopping beforehand! We even ate at this authentic Dim Sum bar that was ridiculously cheap. My whole meal was only $2.50! I was surprised that the food was served cold, although it was my first time eating somewhere like that. Oh! And each spot in the parking garage had a fortune! I love China Town! I’m planning to make a trip back soon! Other than the fact that they opened the doors almost an hour late and the gift bags switched from being the first 100 people in to only VIP ticket holders, I really enjoyed myself! I hope they raised a lot of money for the AID’s Walk!

I am super sick right now (I have a terrible fever!), but it’s been too long since I posted last and how can I get better when all I can think about is blogging? Right?! Here’s what I wore to the Fashion Fights Aids Fashion Show in San Francisco last Friday night. Have you guys ever ordered something online and then all you could think about was how you’d pair the new item? Well, that’s what happened with this. I ordered a pair of super cute heels and all I could think about was those and since I have nothing like my new shoes (they’ll be here Thursday!), I had trouble focusing on the task at hand. I did finally come up with this outfit. I love the double scarves, I think it’s fun to mix and match and it gave my look some color. As you can tell I wore my new purse. I was way glad I did when I saw how the show was set up. The venue was SO packed. Everyone was elbow to elbow and having a big purse made carrying my huge camera easy (I just threw it in my purse). Okay, time to go back to bed and watch On Demand movies. I think “Coco before Chanel” is calling my name. xoxo emily

It’s nice to see a picture of Hilary Duff not wearing gym clothes! She cleans up nicely! I’m not so sure if I’m loving the shoes. I think they would have been a lot cuter if the chain draped over the the back of the shoe rather than the front. And the buckle/strap instantly reminds me of another accessory (ankle monitor anyone?). I like the classic look of her black dress (it has an exposed zipper on the back!) but I’m not loving the length. I think it could stand to lose a couple inches and still be appropriate (especially since she was shopping). And then obviously you can’t go wrong with an Hermès Birkin bag! I’ve gotta give the girl props for how classy she looks, though! She looks very fresh and put together with her hair pulled back in a bun. What do you think, would you wear this?

This show is going to be AMAZING. They’re expecting over 2,000 attendees! Crazy! It’s a little under a month away (August 7th to be exact), and I’m already trying to figure out what I’m going to wear! I may need to make a shopping trip. This fashion show is going to be held at The Memorial Auditorium from 7pm-9pm and proceeds go to the Sweet Dreams Foundation. The last time a fashion show was held at this venue was in the 1950′s and it was a Coco Chanel collection! OMG! There will be 8 of Sacramento’s top designers at the show including Tiana Vega, Linzel Couture, and Lauren Oto. Don’t forget the two designers (Yennie and Jules) from the Design Vendetta event (see my post about it here) will also be included in the show.
